No. A lesson lasts as long as you need, with no cut-off at 40 minutes.
Does the student need to install anything?
No. The student opens the link in a browser on a phone or computer, enters a name and joins. There are iOS and Android apps too, but they are optional.
Can I use one link for the whole year?
Yes. A permanent room with an address like joyin.work/school/class never changes, and added students join without knocking.
How do I show slides or a textbook?
Screen sharing: a tab, a window or the whole screen. Files can be sent in chat.
Can I record a lesson for those who missed it?
Yes, recording starts with one button and everyone in the lesson sees the indicator. The file is kept in your dashboard for 3 days, and you can send the link to the student.
How many students fit in a class?
Up to 100 participants in one room.
Can I split a lesson into pairs or groups?
Yes, with the Groups button in the meeting: groups of 2, 3 or 4 or a set number of groups, at random or by hand, with a task and a timer. A regular layout can be saved and started in one click. Groups work in the browser; students on the mobile app stay in the main room for now.
Where is student data stored?
Media runs through servers in Germany and data is stored in the EU. Recordings are kept for 3 days and then deleted. For schools that need it we sign a data processing agreement.
